Associate Director

Hazel is passionate about the property and construction industry with a strong focus on the development, refurbishment and maintenance of buildings and land. Her background as the managing director of a small business in the property industry coupled with her educational background and post-graduate building surveying experience equip Hazel with a wealth of knowledge that allows her to provide considered practical advice to clients, appointing owners and construction professionals.

Hazel’s post graduate experience as a Party Wall Surveyor for a specialist private consultancy firm specialising in Party Wall matters in London and the surrounding areas provided her induction to the field of building surveying and ignited a keen interest in all aspects of matters arising out of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. Hazel’s role involved effectively managing a range of stakeholders during the course of each project and ensuring compliance with the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. Hazel gained a wealth of knowledge of construction techniques, defect diagnosis, remedial works and the intricacies of how the law is applied in regards to the Act. Hazel provides practical advice to design teams during the development stages of a project so that they can factor in the requirements of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 into their project by understanding the rights of the Building Owner when carrying out works to a property, and the longer term impact of their proposed works. Similarly, Hazel is able to clearly advise an Adjoining Owner of their rights under the Act, the impact of proposed works and any necessary precautions to be taken to protect their property and interests. Hazel is also a member of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors.

Hazel’s other work experience includes roles in the public sector where she spent over a year working for the Arts Service at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in an administrative capacity and a few months interning for the Natural History Museum where she worked on the Wildlife Photographer of the Year project. Outside of work Hazel enjoys spending time with family and friends who get to enjoy her quirky sense of humour, keeping fit, reading, experimenting with new recipes, listening to music and curating playlists.
