About us
Akt. was formed in 2025 as the result of a merger between EK McQuade Neighbourly Matters and the Party Wall team at Archway Building Consultancy.
Both firms were pioneers of a new approach to surveying for neighbourly matters, combining the use of advanced technology with a people-centred philosophy. Both had assembled leading teams of surveyors with unrivalled expertise in the Party Wall Act and Right to Light Act, as well as many years’ experience working with both. Together, they are truly a class Akt.
The relationship goes back to when EK McQuade’s Julian Davies and Archway’s Daniel Griggs met at university. Over the years, both built up successful surveying businesses of their own while recognising the achievements of the other. In 2017, the Party Wall team at Julian’s Earl Kendrick Surveyors merged with Michael McQuade’s specialist Party Wall business to form EK McQuade, later strengthened by the Right to Light expertise of Daniel Wade. Further bolstered by the Party Wall experts from Daniel Griggs’ Archway, the company is now stronger than ever. Its leaders remain youthful and dynamic but are now widely respected leaders in their respective fields.
With a renewed focus on thinking creatively to meet clients’ needs, Akt. also brings much-needed thought leadership to neighbourly matters. Our modern approach to Party Wall and Right to Light surveying has been honed by working with architects and developers. Rather than seeing neighbourly matters as a bureaucratic hurdle to overcome, we believe in integrating them into the creative process behind any given project. That means not overcomplicating things for our clients, but using our expertise to give them a hassle-free experience.
Akt. now has the resources to offer more expertise to clients, including property managers as well as home owners, and with a special focus on architects and developers.
